Mazda should officially reveal their 2018 Mazda CX-9 during 2017. One of the most interesting changes for 2018 CX-9 model is certainly introduction of new diesel engine in their lineup. We already had confirmation about Mazda CX-5 getting diesel unit, and it seems that CX-9 will follow. Future CX-9 will be offered in the same trim levels as current version.
That means we will again see Sport, Touring, Grand Touring and Signature trims on upcoming Mazda CX-9 2018. Overall design should not change much at all. It will still feature LED headlights and LED GRL’s up front. Depending on the trim, CX-9 will run on either 18-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, we expect to see heavy use of wood and leather, as well as 7-inch infotainment system. Other features and systems includes smart city, brake support (SCBS), adaptive cruise control, head-up display, automatic high-beam headlights, autonomous emergency braking, electric parking brake, rear camera, heated seats and mirrors, power driver’s seat, power moonroof, navigation, rain sensors and 12speaker BOSE audio system.
2018 Mazda CX-9 engine lineup will still use 2.5-liter 4-cylinder turbo with ability to produce 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. If Mazda CX-9 is to be offered with diesel engine, it will probably be 2.2 liter from CX-5. This engine can generate up to 173 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Both engines should come mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Also, both front-wheel and all-wheel drive will be offered. 2018 Mazda CX-9 fuel economy should improve with introduction of diesel engine. Petrol versions with front-wheel drive should do 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, averaging 24 mpg. On the other hand, all-wheel drive models are rated at 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, or 24 mpg combined.
